Project - error 9112 when accepting updates

I have now at least four resources complaining of receiving repeated
errors when accepting updates. The error always reads:

===========
An exception occurred in the Project Server.
Project Server encountered a problem with this error code: 9112.
Please contact your server administrator.
===========

I checked the page on Error Codes for the PDS Reference here:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa204425(office.11).aspx#exception

I found that this is the "self-explanatory" exception code:
rsExceptionPjSvrSecurityGetResourcesResCanViewByViewID = 9112

It turns out that "GetResourcesResCanViewByViewID" is actually a
method! Info on that here:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa204653(office.11).aspx

The description reads "Returns a list of resources for which a
specified resource account has a specified resource permission using
the Microsoft Office Project Server 2003 security object. The resource
list can be with or without a specified view ID."

I think the viewID probably refers to PWA, not Project Pro, since it
is optional. It looks as though this is some kind of permissions error
based on the info at MSDN. Do you know of any permissions (or lack of
permissions) that might be causing this?

Just to follow up with further information: Now at least 8 users with
the issue. We're using MSPS 2003 & Project Pro 2003 with the latest SP
applied, running on MSSQL 2000 DB SP4.

Hello Sean,

It looks like PWA Category permissions associated with those
resources. All those resources who are trying to approve the tak
updated are PMs?

I suggest to do the following steps. First do this for one resource.

1) PWA -> Admin -> Manage Users and Groups-> Users -> Select the user
name -> Modify User ->Under Groups, look for group associated with
this user

2) Once you know the group, now you have to find the Category
associated with this group.

3) PWA -> Admin -> Groups -. Choose the group that you found on step1

4) Find out the Group's category by clicking Modify Group

5) Please note that Category associated here, I hope you see here "My
Resources" or similar customized name

6) Now you know the category,

7) PWA -> Admin -> Manage Security -> Select Category -> Modify
Category

You will see here "Resources: Select the resources whose information
can/cannot be viewed by users in this category"

Make sure you selected "All current and future resources in the
project server database" here.

After the above steps, ask user to relogin to Project Server and try
to accept the approve tasks.

I hope this helps.

Thanks
Chak

Hi Chak,

It looks like the issue has quieted down. He had to take down Project
Server because of another service on the same box, but I also made
sure that the users were in the right groups and the groups had the
right permissions. One of those two actions did the trick. Thanks for
the help!

Need to fix MS Project 2007 Pro - External links not showing in spite of Project Why there, I have a puzzle here. I built a 6000+ line IMS in MS Project 2007 Pro. There is a top Milestone Section and a bottom EPCM Section with the any file from Windows Explorer as before. We re-imaged the Windows 7, reinstalled MS Office, MS Project Pro 2007, and SP3 - in this order. Now, DDE functionality was "somehow" rebuilt and I going to ask for a fully reformatted machine, but before that, does anybody has suggestions?
